Autoromanticism An exhibition by Erin Survilas Erin Survilas is a feminist oil painter who focuses on depicting the figure in a contemporary context with historical references. In this particular show she explores themes of self-care, mental health, womanhood, and body neutrality. Her goal is to encourage individuals to view their bodies with a sense of romanticism towards themselves, rather than categorizing their bodies as "good" or "bad." Body neutrality promotes a sense of satisfaction within oneself, rather than striving to meet the pressures of constant body positivity. It allows us to feel a sense of normality within ourselves and our bodily functions. Additionally, Erin Survilas incorporates traditionally "female" mediums such as fabric and ribbon to frame my works. Erin will graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Montserrat College of Art in Spring 2025, concentrating in painting and minoring in curatorial studies, art history, and entrepreneurship. Since 2017, she has been a member of the Salem Art Association and currently serves as the Student Liaison on the Board of Directors.
